Bill Hader spent a total of 5 days with his kids last summer. That's it.

And he's not happy about it

This reminds me of that line from The Devil Wears Prada when Andy complains to Nigel that her personal life is hanging on by a thread and he says, " That's what happens when you start doing well at work. Let me know when you're whole life goes up in smoke. That means it's time for a promotion."

Bill Hader has been doing well at work. Aside from his new HBO series, Barry (which is fabulous), he has 2 films in post prodution. But he worked all summer and that meant very little time with his daughters --  Hannah, 9, Harper, 6, and Hayley, 4. He told Variety that he won't make the same mistake next summer.

“It was terrible. So I’m going, ‘Next summer I’m taking off. And I’m going to spend every day with them.’ It’s this weird thing where when you’re in this industry, you don’t have time to be with them, and it’s really, really difficult. I’m getting emotional right now talking about it.”

“Congrats, it’s the first interview I’ve ever cried in."

Everyone struggles with the lack of balance between work and life, we just don't all make Bill Hader money. If you've always thought making that kind of money makes your choices easier, apparently not.

So the next time you're feeling bad about not seeing you're kids enough, remember this: you're doing better than Bill Hader last summer.
