Dave Grohl finally realized 'decaf blows.'

July 2, 2018

How much coffee did you drink this morning? Probably not as much as Dave Grohl.

You might remember that several years ago Dave went to the hospital with chest pains. Doctors determined his obsession with caffeine in the form of a serious coffee habit was to blame. He was given instructions to cut back. So how much does he drink now?

Lots. Still. He recently had a chat with Rolling Stone and he confessed to starting his day with 6 cups. Just 'a reasonable amount to get his day started,' he said.

Okay, I love coffee, too. I really do and the blacker the better but even I know this is a bit excessive. Because if he's starting his day with that amount, you know he's going back for more in the afternoon.

So, does he have plans to start cutting back again? Not so much. Here's what he had to say about it:

“You realize you’re talking to someone that’s never done cocaine in his life. You can only imagine what would happen if I got my face in a pile of that s–t. We wouldn’t be on the phone right now. But after I got my diagnosis that I should decaffeinate, I tried decaf for, like, a week, and I came to the conclusion that decaf blows.”

I gotta hand it to him. He's right: Decaf really blows. There's no point in enjoying the flavor if you're not getting the results. For the record, I've never been a fan of near beer for the same reason. If you're not drinking then don't have something that looks and smells like alcohol, but acts like a Coke. But I'm an all or nothing kind of girl so to each his own. I have a friend who never drinks so he always orders a Cherry Lime Rickey, which is delicious, by the way. After going to a few places that didn't know what that was he now carries a little recipe card in his wallet so the server can just take it to the bartender and be done with it.

This is what I imagine a day at the office looks like for Dave Grohl.
