"At some point, I'm going to age...but right now I'm holding it together."

July 25, 2018

Jennifer Lopez actually said that in an interview with Emmy magazine last month. Sound a little arrogant to you? I think that's because it is. And I don't think her confidence in making that statement comes from just following a nutrient dense meal plan, doing lots of weight training & cardio, and getting 9 hours of sleep each night.

For a while now I've been wondering how some celebs really seem to have found the secret to aging like Benjamin Button. Good examples of this, other than J Lo, are John Stamos and Rob Lowe, who actually seem to look better now than in their 20s. J Lo just celebrated her 49th birthday and these are the pics she shared with everyone.

She looks great, right? So you might be interested to research the web to try and find out what routine she embraces to get results like that. Could it be her affirmations? She told Harper's Bazaar earlier this year that she tells herself she looks 'youthful and timeless' more than once a day and pointed out Jane Fonda as an example of age being mind over matter. Nevermind that Jane has openly discussed the plastic surgery she's had and the positive impact it's had on her psyche and her life.

Now, I'm not dissing positive affirmations. There's lots of evidence that they do work so go for it. But I do find it duplicitous of her to tout affirmations when everyone is talking about the fact that the real Hollywood secret to looking your best is HGH (human growth hormone). While the speculation about its safety is ongoing, HGH can help improve muscle tone & skin, enhance fat loss, increase energy & mental clarity, and reduce injuries. Use of HGH among athletes and the celebrity elite has apparently been rampant in recent years but I first noticed articles popping up about it back in 2012. I'm sure more regular folks would use it if they could but it easily costs thousands of dollars a year to maintain.

Of course, I have no way of knowing what supplements J Lo may or may not be taking, but when she makes comments like this I can't help but think it's a lot more than B-12.

"Listen, at some point, I'm going to age," she says, chuckling. "They'll say, She looks old! But, right now, I'm holding it together. The other day, Alex was across the lawn, and I brought him something, and then I ran away. And he said, 'You run like you're 25 years old.' I haven't stopped that pace, so I'm still at that pace, I guess.
