Remember when Phoebe wanted to change her name to Princess Consuela Banana Hammock after she married Mike? Changing your name is a big deal and most women understand this.

In the past several years we've seen a rise in the number of women deciding to keep their maiden names after marriage. But they are still not in the majority. Roughly 80% of brides still choose to change their names both legally and professionally.

Katharine McPhee has plenty of good reasons to keep her well-known name but she says she's going to change it to Foster.

“I just love the ring of it. I’ve always liked the idea that it’s still a traditional thing that exists in our society....I think it’s romantic and it’s a great last name.”

This is David Foster's 5th marriage (Katharine's 2nd) and there's a 34 year age gap between them, so I know what you're thinking. You're thinking about that scene in Mad Men, right after Roger had his heart attack and Bert Cooper tells Joan, "Don't waste your youth on age."

What do you think about a woman changing her name after marriage?

Still a great idea. It's traditional, romantic and sweet!
