Salma Hayek's husband surprised her with a vow renewal ceremony. Romantic or Uh-Oh?

Do you think vow renewals are sweet and romantic or are they really a sign that somebody screwed up and is trying hard to make it better? I don't really get it. I think you get one wedding and you can always celebrate more by having killer anniversary parties.

To redo a ceremony you already did seems weird. You don't renew your college degree by doing the graduation ceremony again. You don't renew a naturalized citizenship ceremony. You don't renew your baptism (which actually would be a good one to redo since you were probably a baby and don't even remember it). It's not like the vows you take at your wedding expire. In fact, that's precisely why weddings are so scary and, if you're anything like me, you were totally freaked out at yours because it's forever.

So my next thought goes to, 'What did he do that now he's trying to make it up to her?' It's not a milestone anniversary for them; they've been married 9 years. Color me suspicious.

Do you recall that before they got married, the engagement was abruptly called off in the summer of 2008, just months after their daughter had been born. They reconciled and married in 2009. And then in 2011 we learned that Francois-Henri had fathered a child with Linda Evangelista (supposedly before he met Salma) and I always wondered if the timing of that break-up coincided with Salma learning about Linda's baby.

But, Salma seemed absolutely delighted that her billionaire husband, Francois-Henri Pinault, (who made his fortune with luxury brands like Balenciaga & Gucci) surprised her with this ceremony.

Does it seem like there's a big age difference here? I agree, but there's not. He's only 5 years older. So, maybe they are equally yoked and still very loving with each other.
