Should you change your name when you get divorced?

July 26, 2018

If you're a Real Housewives fan you know the Beadors from the Orange County franchise are splitting up and it's definitely an acrimonious split. I used to love watching the Housewives but I can't do it anymore. There are too many other things to watch and the repetitive cycle of contrived fights and forgiveness has finally worn me out (much to my husband's relief).

Even Shannon's divorce drama couldn't keep me enagaged, though I quite admired how vulnerable she allowed herself to be on camera. Recently she said that her soon-to-be-ex-husband asked her to change her name because she's not 'worthy of the name Beador.' Wow, that's harsh. Especially considering he hasn't exactly been the picture of integrity.

Lots of women are only too glad to change their names after a divorce but it's a lot more complicated when there are children from the marriage. Shannon and David were married for 17 years and had 3 beautiful daughters together. Sounds like Shannon will not be influenced by her husband's request and rightly so. It's entirely her choice to change her name or not.
