Tracee Ellis Ross' definition of self-care will totally change yours

February 7, 2019

Tracee is not one of those actresses who's going to pretend she sleeps on a bed of rose petals and wakes up feeling & looking like the fresh-faced mother we see on Blackish.

She's the first one to admit it takes W-O-R-K. And she shows us her work.

Tracee takes care of herself. In an interview with Instyle last year she said:

"The 'I woke up like this' thing? Bullsh*t! Black-ish is in HD, darling! There’s no Vaseline on the lenses. At 18 I might have woken up like this. At 45 I fucking work for it. And I love potato chips more than anything in the world, and so I work out hard. I put masks on my face. I take care of myself." And, by the way, to me self-care does not mean going to the spa. It's learning to say no. It's knowing yourself so you can make choices that are an expression of you. That's self-care."

If you're anything like me, you've never really gotten on board with that whole spa thing. It never lives up to expectations. But saying no more often? Please tell me that's a life changing mantra you can get on board with!
