Wear your RED this Friday.

January 29, 2018

National Wear Red Day is this Friday, Feb. 2, 2018. Hit your closet and pull out your favorite red blouse, or remember to pick up that dry cleaning on Thursday because wearing red is more important than you might think.

Heart disease is women’s #1 health threat, responsible for 1 in 3 women’s deaths each year in the US.  Did you know that? A lot of people think it's breast cancer. It's not. But the good news is that 80% of heart disease may be completely preventable with healthy lifestyle choices. Yes, completely preventable! So what can you do to spread awareness? Wear RED! The American Heart Association (AHA) has dedicated the first Friday of February as National Wear Red Day to spread this life-saving awareness message.

Make plans to wear red this Friday. Text your girlfriends and tell them your plans so they can wear red, too. It's a small thing, but it has a real impact. The AHA estimates that since the campaign began in 2004, nearly 300 fewer women die of cardiovascular diseases each and every day. So tell your mother, sister, aunt, daughters, etc. And tell the men who love them, too. The more people who know, the more lives can be saved.
