There's an Eco-Buzz happening after a recent unveiling of the adidas new performance running shoe, the Futurecraft LOOP with Willow Smith. Willow had to have made her Mama Jada & Daddy Will proud w/ her delivery of a very important message ...  "If we don’t want to be the problem, we have to be the solution. Futurecraft LOOP Adidas #futurecraft ..."

Eric Liedtke/ adidas talked about the creation of Futurecraft LOOP. An 'Army of Innovators' had been working on the new shoe for more than 6 years.

  • The Challenge / Problem: Create performance shoes that can best serve the athlete/ wearer, yet have all the parts needed without having waste when the shoes wearout. Recycling shoes is difficult when various materials need to be separated before recycling.
  • The Solution: adidas is solving the problem by making the shoe w/ a single material - 100% reusable thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU). It's constructed without the use of adhesives or other chemicals. The TPU is spun to yarn, knitted, molded & clean-fused to a midsole. Once the user is done with the shoes, they are returned to adidas. They are washed, ground to pellets and melted into material to create a new pair of shoes. Zero Waste! Nothing to Toss!

Futurecraft LOOP... Being a Solution.. Made to be Remade!  Testing is being done right now with different people wearing them before the 2nd generation of Futurecraft LOOP drops. adidas has a wider target release for Spring Summer 2021. (treehugger)
